Squeeze lands the hat trick
Lightly Squeeze completed a rapid hat trick with a runaway success under top weight at Plumpton on Sunday.
The sequence began in a novices’ handicap hurdle at Wincanton on Boxing Day when he was rated 110 and continued at Taunton four days later in a handicap hurdle for conditional jockeys which ensured that he did not have to carry a penalty on Sunday.
The races have fallen kindly for a horse who is suddenly in the form of his life & is a far cry from his fortunes compared to a year ago when he required emergency surgery for colic followed by a long period on the easy list.
He is certainly making up for lost time now and does have an entry at Taunton on Tuesday. But if he does turn out again quickly seeking the four timer it is more likely to be at Leicester on Thursday where he would race off a mark of 127 including a penalty for today’s success.
That might seem quite appealing given that he is likely to go up to somewhere in the mid thirties after today.
Lightly Squeeze has had an easy time at home with only three canters up the hill since Boxing Day and we will monitor him closely before making a decision about Thursday.
As he can be a bit exuberant at home he will tell us if he has had enough for the moment.
